The Commercial traineeship
A lot of different marketing departments come together within the Commercial traineeship. You can think of assignments within Shopper Marketing, Business Development or Brand Management. As commercial trainee you will work with both, international and national clients. FrieslandCampina does not only have iconic B2C brands, a big part of our business is in the B2B market. These are brands you do not find in the supermarkets, but are for instance used as ingredients for products of large customers or used in out of home channels such as restaurants or bars. We also have several specialized nutrition brands that focus on complex products such as infant nutrition or sports nutrition. In our Commercial Traineeship our aim is to give you the opportunity to do at least one assignment in a B2B- and one assignment in a B2C environment. This way you get to experience both sides of the FrieslandCampina business in just two years!

The FrieslandCampina traineeship is a two-year program, during which you will complete two assignments of one year. The assignments could be an extension of each other or totally different. Your first assignment is assigned to you by us, but during the second assignment you have the opportunity to choose or create your own assignment with our support. When you work at FrieslandCampina you will find out the sky is the limit when it comes to your own career! When you proactively look for new opportunities, anything is possible.

As Commercial trainee you work with a lot of external and internal stakeholders, this is why we need people with strong communication and influencing skills. We are looking for trainees with a commercial mindset, who work in a proactive and self-asserting way.

Basic Qualifications:
▪  Completed a WO Master’s degree;
▪  A commercial internship at a multinational;
▪  Affinity with both marketing and sales;
▪  International focus and mobility;
▪  Limited work experience;
▪  Fluent in English (willing to learn Dutch).

Example of assignments

Export Business Development at the African markets department

As business developer in the Africa department you optimize the way we distribute our products in the African markets. You could for instance be investigating how we can reach the different commercial channels of the African markets. Or what the best way of working is with the local distributors. As a trainee you work on building tools and trainings for the FrieslandCampina employees working in the African markets.

Shopper Marketing- Drinks category
If you get an assignment as shopper marketeer in the drinks category, your responsibility is to ensure that the drinks category grows at the Dutch retailers by influencing consumers on the shop floor. You could think of organizing sales promotions or coordinating the creation of new POS materials. In this assignment you work together with internal marketing and sales departments of FrieslandCampina and external advertising- and artwork agencies.

Global Customer Development & Shopper Marketing
In this assignment you support the Customer Development & Shopper Marketing department.
You could for example support the sales department of the EMEA area. You work together with sales directors of different countries and examine best practices in the different markets. You support in creating a strategic plan for all countries and ensure one way of working across the different markets. This very international assignment gives you the opportunity to come in contact with all facets of the commercial discipline of FrieslandCampina. Therefore, the assignment is more than just top on mind sales activities.
