Short description

In this role you lead the portfolio strategy for Consumer Dairy Netherlands across brands (including Private Label) and channels. This includes the identification of brand overarching business opportunities that the brand teams including Private Label can subsequently act upon with impact on market performance in 1-3 years. You pro-actively use the different sources of data and insights to lead the identification of big innovation platforms and occasion based opportunities working closely with Brand Leaders and the management team. An important part of the role is to drive fact based decision making as well as to champion and facilitate ‘Occasion, Brand, Pack, Price, Channel’ (OBPPC) thinking.

Why? In a brand led decentralized marketing organization, big overarching opportunities need to be identified and prioritized to ensure mid to long term success for total Consumer Dairy Netherlands.  

What? 1) Drive overarching business optimization and 2) lead insights & consumer service to higher level, where both are instrumental to point 1 but also serve the brands separately on ongoig and future business

How? Demonstrate a growth mindset, thought leadership, strategic (portfolio) thinking and personal initiative to drive bigger innovation in the 12Q plan and critical overarching priority setting and decision taking.

 

Your main responsibilities are:

 

Portfolio & Strategy lead

o    Drive strategic decision making on role of branded versus private label portfolio to maximize the opportunity for total company

o    Strategic advisor to the marketing director on portfolio and strategy topics

o    Leader of portfolio strategy discussions with brand leaders

o    Support marketing director in overarching opportunities, challenges and activities including for example packaging innovation and sustainability topics

o    Member of escalation team (with Trademarketing director and Finance director) to decide on brand overarching or conflicting overarching business challenges

 

Commerical rigor & Return on investment

o    The OBPPC expert/ key knowledge holder for the Fighting Unit

o    Drives validation & priority setting on OBPPC thinking

o    The linking pin to the Business Group and other markets to provide input on packaging/ supply chain investment decisions

o    Lead development of initiative ROI tracking and tools that facilitate the business in fact based decision taking

o    Influence decisions to optimize the portfolio and 12Q plans

o    Support the embedding of commercial rigor tools in the Consumer Dairy Netherlands marketing team

 

Next level Insights development

o    Demonstrates curiosity and triggers curiosity in others

o    Proactively defines big consumer/ customer/ societal trends that the company should act on

o    Actively drives consumer centric thinking in the entire organization

o    Facilitates the process with different stakeholders/ teams to get from data & trends to insights and plans

o    Brings insights to the next level by linking different sources of data (business insights, qualitative and quantitative consumer data, big data from digital platform)

o    Drives innovation in consumer research in both sources and methodology (big data, own data, 3rd party data)

 

Consumer care

o    Lead the consumer care team

o    Improve service level of consumer care team

o    Elevate consumer care team from a support function to a source of insight and consumer engagement

 

Team Management

o    Lead and develop a team of (senior) managers through coaching and feedback to maximize performance of themselves and their respective teams.

o    Be a supportive and active marketing management member, creating an inspiring environment enabling development and growth.

o    Establish and optimize team processes to balance dynamic business priorities.

Requirements

To be a successful in this position, you have:

  • MSc degree, preferably in relevant field

  • >10y Professional marketing and or brand strategy experience

  • Experience in conceptual marketing (i.e. brand development)

  • Experience in trade marketing or sales

  • Experience in portfolio strategy and brand strategy development

  • Experience in insights development (i.e. insight activator type programs)

  • Program and project management (with multiple stakeholders)

  • Basic knowledge of Financial Management
