FrieslandCampina is far more than a dairy-based beverage, a piece of cheese, or a set of ingredients. Our purpose is to nourish by nature, providing better nutrition for the world we live in and a good living for farmers, now and for generations to come. FrieslandCampina is a responsible business that always seeks to do what is truly good for the company and for society. Every single day we make a genuine difference in the lives of millions of people.
To farmers, the communities we serve, the businesses we work with and the people we nourish, our sense of connection does not just hinge on what we do, but on who we are. Working in highly competitive markets we need to be agile, while, at the same time, carefully balancing all of our interdependent business processes. We are unique, because our suppliers, the farmers, are also our owners. Our ownership of the entire supply chain from grass to glass, means we can guarantee high quality for all our products.
Building on our strong identity and sense of connection with our supply chain, it is the commitment of our employees that has helped us become a truly successful company. Now one of the largest dairy companies in the world, we have been operating throughout Africa since 1965 and across Asia since 1925. We own many strong local brands that are considered iconic in their own communities. Our products are shipped to over 100 countries around the globe. And our company is still owned by a proud, strong cooperative of almost 20,000 farmers. Many of them are from farming families who have been members for generations.
Our DNA and purpose
Doing fair business and having a sustainable vision for the future of our company and our farmers is a fundamental element of our DNA. With our Dairy Development program, we contribute to those markets in which we do business by sharing our knowledge with local partners – whether a Vietnamese farm owner trying to grow a dairy business, or a Nigerian farmer adopting good dairy practices.
Our purpose, ‘nourishing by nature’, guides our business decisions. Living this purpose requires more than agreeing to it: it requires personification. This means that our people know their purpose. Every day, they make sure they do their jobs in a meaningful way. In everything we do, we seek to impact the bigger picture. We’re always adding value, improving the lives and livelihoods of our customers and (member) farmers. And that’s why we are intent on becoming a little better every day.
